Our Year in Pictures 2016-2017

What our student council members have to say about their year in office!

It was fun being on Student Council. It was the best year so far. I enjoyed going to meet the other student councils. We got to meet new people. Dublin will be fun too! Finley
I felt that we made a difference in our school. We go to make important decisions and we had really good fun. I’m looking forward to our trip to Dublin.  Roisin
I like student council because it is entertaining and fun. It is also a way to find out new things. It’s awesome! Fionn
Student Council is amazing. It is great but hard too. It was great because I learned new things. That’s why I like this job. Tadhg
It was fun meeting older kids in the school. When I was campaigning I didn’t think I would win but when I did I was very surprised. My first meeting was even better than I expected. Meeting the other Educate Together student councils was the best experience for me. Leonora

Meeting with Board of Management. Sharing ideas and brainstorming plans for the future of our school

The Student Council visited Kilcolgan Educate Together this week to share and exchange ideas on improving our school. We were given a school tour before we had an outdoor meeting and were kindly given yummy lunch. We look forward to future collaborations with this inspiring group. Check out the photos.  Thanks K.E.T.N.S !

Next trip - Dáil Éireann on June 11th!

We held the Student  Council elections last week and classes from 2nd to 6th all voted at the Polling Station set up across from John’s office. It was brilliant to see so may children willing to put themselves word to work on behalf of their school and fellow students. Well done and thanks to all those who had the courage to put themselves forward.

The aim of the Student Council is to give the children a voice in the running of the school, to encourage them to be proactive in addressing issues that are important to them and to develop the concept of active democracy and participation in community.

The following students were elected.

2nd Class Mya  & Eoin
3rd Class Fionnuala & Matthew
4th Class Tara & Fiachra
5th Class Timoor & Liza
6th Class Keelin & Arthur.

Keep an eye on our page on the website to see what we’re up to or visit the Student Council noticeboard in the corridor! We’re looking forward to a very busy year.
