Our story of the week is Farmer Duck. Listen to the story here if you don't have the book at home.

Read Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell/Helen Oxenbury. Discuss the story with your child
Where is the story set?
Who is/are the main characters?
Ask your child to describe these characters – their personalities (Farmer was lazy and bossy. The duck was hard working & kind).
Why was Duck so sad? Ask how and why the mood of the duck changed through the story.
Show your child four photocopied pages from the story (including title page).
Ask your child to describe what is happening and where in the story it happened (beginning, middle, end). Sequence the pages & reread the text from the story with your child.
